Householders Comprehensive (Renters) insurance on your belongings is available for St. George’s University (SGU) students resident in Grenada. It is compulsory for students living on campus and optional for those living off campus.

Secure Your Belongings
The Insurer is Guardian General Insurance Co. Personal belongings of students are covered only in your place of residence in Grenada and while left for safekeeping on SGU premises between semesters. Students will be billed by St. George’s University and there will be no refunds for cancellation of the insurance.

INFORMATION ON STUDENTS’ COVERAGE
House Holders Comprehensive Insurance
- Many things can happen to your belongings while you are living on-campus or off-campus or while you are away on vacation. Householders’ comprehensive can cover losses for personal items stolen or damaged by accidents, natural disasters and other events.
What Is Covered?
- The Insured is covered for Personal effects, books and electronic items. Perils range from Hurricanes, Earthquakes and Explosions to Burglary, Floods and Burst Pipes. You may view the full Summary of Cover above for more information.
Claims
- Claims should be sent to Insurance Consultants of Grenada by submitting the claim form. If your residence is off-campus the cover for Theft, Burst Pipes and Malicious Damage is deleted once the residence is unoccupied continuously for 40 days. The full cover is reinstated once the residence is again occupied.

List of Electronic Items
A list showing make, model, serial number and value is required for all Electronic Items. The maximum cover for items not listed is US $90 per item and US $370 per occurrence or in total for the insurance period. The currency will be assumed to be USD unless otherwise stated.
List of Jewelry
A list with description and value is required for all Jewelry which is included in Personal Effects. The maximum cover for items not listed is US $90 per item and US $370 per occurrence or in total for the insurance period.
Change of Information
insurance Consultants of Grenada must be notified of any changes to your residence in Grenada and the list of electronic Items and jewellery insured by submitting the Change of Information Form located on this page. Failure to do so may result in denial of your claim or the maximum limits above being applied.
Report a Claim
If there is some loss of your property while in your residence we must be notified immediately. Please complete and return the initial Claim Report Form. It is important that the cause of the loss is clearly stated.
- A Claim Form will be sent which must be completed in full and signed and stamped by SGU.
- Submit a copy of your SGU Student ID.
- Take photos at the scene and take all action necessary to minimise the loss.
- Do not dispose of any damaged items till they have been inspected by the insurer.
- If there is a burglary the campus security must be advised as a report from them will be required. Submit a photo showing the damage at the point of entry by the burglar.
- Do not accept liability for damage or injury under any circumstances.
